Dudley Davenport was an extraordinary figure, dedicating over three decades of his life to the Sharon community as an athletic director and basketball coach. For 30 years, he served as the Athletic Director at Sharon High School, and for over 20 years, he passionately coached the Sharon Eagles basketball team. Dudley's unwavering commitment to the development of young athletes and the well-being of the students is a legacy that continues to inspire.
Dudley Davenport was not only a renowned sports figure but also a dedicated member of the SCU Credit Union family. He served on the SCU Credit Union Board of Directors since the 1970s, and his contributions were invaluable. As Chairman of the Board, his leadership and vision helped shape the credit union into what it is today, a pillar of financial support and community engagement.
His “larger-than-life” presence commanded respect, while his smile welcomed all.
His successes were many, and the students, athletes, and all others he inspired in the Town of Sharon and Hockomock communities will forever be grateful for his dedication, wisdom, leadership, and most importantly, his friendship.
One of Dudley's most enduring contributions was his instrumental role in establishing the SCU Credit Union Scholarship Program. He believed in the power of education and actively participated in meeting with scholarship recipients to present their awards. His personal touch and encouragement inspired the lives of numerous young individuals and inspired them to pursue higher education and fulfill their dreams.

His wisdom, dedication, and leadership have left an indelible mark on the Town of Sharon, impacting the lives of students, athletes, and countless others. Most importantly, he leaves behind a legacy of friendship and community spirit that will continue to be cherished for generations to come.
